ABOUT THIS SITE

Inaugural Kudumbayogam
The inaugural Cheruparambath kudumbayogam took place on 20th February 2000 at the courtyard of the “Tharavadu”. The sangamam was hailed as a landmark event for the cheuparambath family members in the millennium year. It was a grand success owing to the co operation and active participation of a majority of the family members.
An innovative idea suggested during the event resulted in publishing of the Family Directory & family tree prepared for the benefit of younger generations. The directory published in 2004 contained the details of the main ‘thavazhis’, our ancestors, a glimpse of the family history and relevant information about our members.

Website – concept to reality
During the regular annual meetings of the Kudumbayogam that followed, members highlighted the need for updating data on a regular basis. The idea of developing a dedicated website was conceived from this. This site is developed and is being launched for the benefit of our members, to provide latest data, to serve as a forum for interaction, and to keep them informed on the latest happenings in the family as a unit as we realize the need to reach family members who are spread all across the globe.

Primary objective
As a rule, the system followed by traditional “Nair” families in Central Kerala considers only the female lines (maternal) and their descendents as the rightful members of the family. However, in view of the changed social scenario and to ensure cohesiveness among various family units under the umbrella of the central parental unit, descendants of both the male and female lines have been included as members of the Kudumbayogam so that the future generations would realize the importance of the forging links amongst them. This is deemed to be the primary objective of this website.

A word of caution
Historical background, narrations and ancestral data included in the site are word of mouth versions passed on through generations. Digging up the roots of this large tree centuries old had its constraints and factual errors are quite likely. There may be omissions also. These are unintentional. Members are welcome to throw more light on facts if they have authentic information available.

Our sincere and humble offering to the members…
The inception of Kudumbayogam has cemented relationships. It is certainly an inspiration to construct a strong edifice with the increased involvement of all members. This website is intended to further strengthen our links. Strong family ties lead to strong societal bonds. It is important to be aware of the roots because on them stands our tree. Let the ‘Kudumba Deepam (family lamp)’ of our heritage, traditions and culture continue to glow to brighten the lives of the progressing generations. We fervently pray to our ‘Kudumba Paradevatha (family deity)’ and reverently seek the blessings of our ancestors while placing this website before all the members.
